Add Background
Add color or image background to PDF. Right in your browser. 100% free, privacy protected.
Add Background places a colour or an image behind the existing content of every page — a letterhead, a branded template, a subtle tint, or a texture that makes a printed document look finished. Because the background sits underneath the text layer, the document stays perfectly readable while gaining a consistent look. Set opacity and scaling to control how prominent it is, apply it to the whole document or a range of pages, and export. Processing is done in your browser without uploading the file.
- Upload Files — Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or click to browse and select files from your device.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the background hide my text?
No. It is inserted below the existing content layer, so text and images stay on top and fully legible. Lower the opacity if a busy image competes with the text.
Can I use an image as the background?
Yes. JPG and PNG images can be scaled to fit the page, tiled, or centred at their own size.
Does it work on scanned pages?
Scanned pages are usually a full-page opaque image, so a background behind them will not be visible. Use Watermark for those instead.
How much bigger will the file get?
A solid colour adds almost nothing. An image background adds roughly its own size, once, and is reused across pages.
