Compare PDF

Visually compare differences between two PDFs. Right in your browser. 100% free, privacy protected.

Compare PDF shows what changed between two versions of a document. Load the old file and the new one and the differences are laid out side by side with added, removed and modified text marked, so a contract revision or a specification update can be reviewed without reading both copies line by line. It is aimed at exactly the situation where someone sends back a revised document with no change log. Both files are processed in your browser and neither is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it compare text or the visual page?

It compares the extracted text, which is what catches wording changes reliably. Pure layout shifts that leave the wording identical will not be reported as differences.

Can I compare scanned documents?

Only if they have a text layer. Run both through OCR first, and bear in mind that OCR errors can show up as spurious differences.

How are the differences marked?

Added, removed and changed passages are colour-coded in a side-by-side view so you can scan straight to what moved.

Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit, though comparing two very long documents is memory-intensive since both are held open at once.
