Merge PDF - How To Guide

Learn how to use merge pdf. 100% free, no installation required.

Combining PDFs comes up constantly — assembling an application pack, stapling receipts onto an expense claim, joining chapters that were written separately. Here is how to do it in the browser, in the order you want, without installing anything.

  1. Upload Files

Add every PDF you want to combine. You can select them all at once, or drop them in a few at a time as you find them.

  2. Set Options

Drag the file cards into the order you want. The merged document follows the order shown on screen, so check it before continuing — this is the step people skip and then redo.

  3. Download

Download the merged PDF. It arrives as one file with the pages in sequence, ready to send.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Name your source files with a leading number (01_cover.pdf, 02_body.pdf) and they will land in the right order before you drag anything.
  • Merging does not build a combined outline. If the result is long, add one afterwards with Edit Bookmarks so readers can navigate it.
  • If the merged file is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF rather than splitting it back up.
  • Mixed page sizes stay as they are — an A4 and a Letter document merge without either being stretched.
